Sunday Ministries
BEFORE THE SERVICE
- Altar Guild: Behind the scenes, a most dedicated group prayerfully and lovingly take wonderful care of not only the altar linens but other liturgical items such as the eucharistic vessels, elements, vestments, brass, silver, candles and flowers. It is a challenge to keep up with all of the things the altar guild handles. New Members for this ministry are always welcome!
- Welcome: Greeters, Ushers and Good Shepherds are on hand to greet, provide a weekly worship service bulletin and address any questions you may have.
DURING THE SERVICE
- Music: A dedicated choir leads the congregation during the Sunday worship service. Led by a talented organist, the ministry of the choir is experienced during weekly Sunday worship service and during special services during the year. Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings 7 – 8:30 pm and Sunday mornings 9:20 am. All who love to sing are welcome! Altar service: Youth and adults are welcome to serve as part of the Sunday worship service:
- Acolytes: Carry out ceremonial duties such as lighting the candles, carrying the crosses and assisting the priest in setting up the altar.
- Lectors: Read Old Testament and New Testament scripture readings appointed for the day.
- Eucharistic Ministers: Assist the priest in administering the bread and wine. At Trinity Episcopal church, the Eucharistic minister functions as a ‘Chalice Bearer’ and administers the wine only. The Eucharistic Minister must be approved by the Vestry and licensed by the Connecticut Diocese.
- Prayers of the People: Leads the congregation in the intercessory prayers during the worship service
AFTER THE SERVICE
- Eucharistic Visitors : Take communion (bread and wine) to the sick and housebound. This occurs directly from the communion service to housebound communicants of the parish.
