A talk by Tim Lewis of the Great Meadow Conservation Trust (GMCT), a local organization which provides opportunities to learn or to participate in hands-on activities that protect our environment. Tim will present on GMCT’s role in restoring and protecting our Connecticut riverfront habitats in Wethersfield, Glastonbury and Rocky Hill.
This presentation will focus on a potential Land Acknowledgment Statements (LAS) for Trinity Parish that will be discussed by the vestry and wardens for revision and potential adaptation. Garth Myers will take us through the process he went through at Trinity College for the successful drafting and adaptation of a new LAS last year. And the work of the college’s Land Acknowledgment Steering Committee toward implementing actions and fostering commitments to make the LAS something more than words on a screen.
Dietrich Bonhoeffer was a German Lutheran pastor and theologian whose insights into the nature of authentic Christian community and discipleship are as relevant today as they were when he promoted them during the rise and rule of Nazism, with all its destruction. Pastor Hugh Haffenreffer will share with us the story of German Lutheran pastor Dietrich Bonhoeffer, including his eventual participation in a plot to assassinate Adolf Hitler. Pastor Hugh will touch on the ways Bonhoeffer is being misinterpreted today, and present a few short selections from Bonhoeffer's writing.
